What Mavella’s AI is designed to do, where its limits are, and when to talk to a healthcare professional.
Mavella uses artificial intelligence to help you understand and organize information during pregnancy and early parenthood. We want you to know exactly what that means — and what it doesn’t.
How Mavella uses AI
- Answering general questions about pregnancy and baby topics in plain language.
- Summarizing information you’ve chosen to log in the app.
- Personalizing content to your stage and preferences.
- Helping you prepare questions to ask your healthcare provider.
What AI can’t do
Mavella is not a doctor, midwife, healthcare provider, diagnostic service or emergency service. It cannot examine you or your baby, it doesn’t know your full medical history, and it cannot diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition.
AI can make mistakes
AI-generated responses can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, even when they sound confident. Treat them as a starting point for understanding, not as a final answer, and check anything important with a qualified professional.
When to talk to a healthcare professional
Always ask your doctor, midwife or another qualified healthcare professional about symptoms, medications, test results or decisions about your care or your baby’s care. Never ignore professional advice or delay seeking it because of something you read in Mavella.
In an emergency
If you think you or your baby may need urgent help — for example heavy bleeding, severe pain, reduced baby movements, a high fever in your baby, or difficulty breathing — contact your local emergency services or your maternity unit immediately. Don’t use Mavella to decide whether an emergency is real.
Using Mavella responsibly
- Use Mavella to learn, organize and prepare — not to replace care.
- Share your tracked information with your care team if it helps your conversations.
- Keep the app updated so you have the latest improvements.
Your data and AI
To answer your questions, the information you send to the AI companion is processed by AI service providers acting on our behalf. We explain how this works, and your choices, in the Mavella Privacy Policy. Please avoid sharing information you don’t need to share.
